The Faith Academy Track Team recently participated in back-to-back meets before Spring Break, showcasing their talents and dedication on the field. The first meet, held on Thursday, March 9th at Rosehill Christian, saw the participation of approximately 25 private Christian schools. The following day, the team traveled to Giddings Meet, where they competed against seven other teams.

Despite the stiff competition, the Faith Academy Track Team put up a strong showing, with several of their athletes placing in the top six in their respective events. In the Varsity Division of the Rosehill Meet, Noah Figueroa, a talented 11th grader, secured 1st place in the Discus and 4th place in the Shot Put, with both performances being his season bests. Elizabeth Walker, a 10th-grade student, came in 2nd in the Pole Vault and 300 Hurdles, and 5th in the 100 Hurdles. Freshman Mikaela Skardenni secured 2nd place in the 3200 and 5th in the 1600, both of which were season bests. Another freshman, Jackson Dunn, came in 2nd in the 300 Hurdles, his season best. Daniela Skardenni, also a freshman, secured 5th place in the 800 and 6th in the 1600, both of which were season bests.

At the Giddings Meet, Noah Figueroa put in another commendable performance, securing 4th place in both Discus and Shot Put in the Varsity Division. In the JV Division, Elizabeth Walker won 1st place in the 300 Hurdles, 2nd in the Pole Vault, and 5th in the 100 Hurdles. Mikaela Skardenni continued her impressive performance, taking 2nd place in both the 3200 and 1600, with the former seeing her shave 45 seconds off her best time. Daniela Skardenni secured 5th place in both the 800 and 1600, with both performances being her season bests. Jackson Dunn also placed 5th in the 300 Hurdles.

The team has been working hard, practicing their skills in the mornings at the Sealy Softball/Baseball Park and on the Mile Loop trail made of cinder, and in the afternoons at school, running hurdles on the grass and practicing block starts. While the team awaits the completion of the new Bellville HS track, they have not let this dampen their spirits, instead rising to the challenge of competing with larger Christian and public schools, determined to better themselves. The Faith Academy Track Team is a shining example of what hard work and dedication can achieve, and we look forward to seeing them continue to excel in the future.
